Gala is a has Cox’s Orange Pippin and Kidds Orange Red in it’s heritage, so it comes as no surprise that it’s popularity has recently overtaken that of Cox in the UK, let alone world wide.  It is a heavy cropping variety with a well rounded, sweet flavour, although not as complex as Cox.  It is perhaps an apple for younger generations?  If you love the apple you will love the juice.
