Sunset is often compared with the flavour of Cox’s Orange Pippen but in truth, it has a lot of its own attributes. The colour is orange on a pale yellow background, which is where it gets is name from. Flatter in shape, earlier to ripen and with a shorter storage season, it is not difficult to understand why Cox out performed it in commercial world but it scores highly as a garden variety and orchard pollinator because it is prococious and relatively disease free. Strong flavour and naturally sweet.
