Katy is a Nordic cross between James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain. As such, it is also an early variety that ripens in the last week of August. Snouty in shape and bright red in colour, it produces a heavy crop of wonderfully juicy apples. Slightly acidic and with a hint of strawberry. The variety has become popular as a source of juice for a number of reasons, mainly because it is such an early start to the season. Medium sharp, it is a refreshing and tangy juice.
