George Cave is a tangy, juicy, early ripening variety that looks and tastes of a typical traditional English apple variety. It is very early to ripen in late July and is perhaps a little tart for modern palates. However, it is ideal for juicing and it’s soft flesh tends to give a couldy juice that is tart but full flavoured. This variety is in very short supply so may not be available all year round.
